What It Does
The washer generator is a free parametric modeller that runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded and nothing is installed. Set the outer size, hole size and thickness, and a watertight solid is rebuilt live in the 3D viewport as you type. Designing here is free and there is no sign-up. Keeping the file is not: order the part printed by us and the download comes with it, or buy a licence for the file on its own.
Shapes and Holes
The outline can be round, hexagonal or square, and the hole can independently be round, hexagonal or square. A hex or square hole can be rotated to line up with the nut, bar or extrusion it has to trap. For polygonal shapes the size you enter is measured across the flats, the same way a spanner size is quoted, so a hex washer sized 13 mm sits in a 13 mm socket. Round shapes are measured across the diameter.
Standard Sizes
One-tap presets cover ISO 7089 flat washers from M3 to M20 and ISO 7093 penny (repair) washers in M6, M8 and M10. Penny washers use a much larger outer face to spread load across soft materials such as timber, plasterboard and plastic sheet. Every preset stays fully editable after you select it, so a standard size is only ever a starting point.
Chamfers and Corner Radii
Chamfers can be applied to the outer edge, the bore, or both, on the top face, the bottom face, or both faces. A bottom chamfer takes the elephant foot off the first layer so the washer sits genuinely flat; a top chamfer helps a bolt head or nut face seat cleanly. On hex and square profiles you can add a corner radius to the outside, which keeps the seam blob off a sharp edge and removes the stress riser that hex washers usually crack from, and a separate corner radius inside the hole.
Batch Plates and Print Estimates
Set a copy count and the generator tiles that many washers into a grid on one plate with adjustable spacing, so a set of twenty spacers is one file and one print. A live readout shows the outer size, hole size, thickness, total volume in cubic centimetres, estimated mass for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, PA-CF or resin, and the facet count of the generated mesh. Warnings appear if the hole reaches outside the part, if the thickness falls below a single 0.4 mm layer pair, or if the thinnest wall drops under about 0.9 mm, where a 0.4 mm nozzle gives you two thin walls and no infill.
A Note on Strength
Printed washers and spacers are load spreaders, shims and isolators — they are not fasteners. For anything carrying real bolt preload, use a steel washer. Where a printed part earns its keep is odd sizes, non-standard hole shapes, electrical isolation, and spacers that no supplier stocks.
